Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland has won his way through to his first Grand Slam final, the eighth seed outlasting T. Berdych of the Czech Republic 6-3 6-7(1) 7-6(3) 7-6(4) in a tense four-set semifinal at Rod Laver Arena on Thursday night.

The Swiss will play either compatriot Roger Federer or top seed Rafael Nadal in the men’s singles final on Sunday night after defeating seventh seed Berdych, who was looking to advance to his first major final since losing to Nadal at Wimbledon in 2010.Stanislas Warinka of Switzerland claimed his first berth in the Australian Open finals as he beat Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic.
